Fall 2018 SJTU International Graduate Admission

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is an international institution located in one of the world’s most international cities. Each year we admit students from nearly 80 countries making the university a rich and diverse learning environment. We offer a wide range of graduate programs to international students including 60 master programs and 41 doctoral programs in 25 different schools/departments. The study duration for master programs is 2-3 years (full-time), and that for doctoral programs is 3-4 years (full-time). Upon completion of the program curriculum, passing the thesis/dissertation review and defense, corresponding degree and diploma will be awarded.

ELIGIBILITY

The following are general requirements you should meet to apply to the SJTU International Graduate Program.

l Non-Chinese citizen.

l Not registered in SJTU at the degree level aiming to apply for.

l Good health both physically and mentally.

l Outstanding academic performance and potential.

l Bachelor's degree or equivalent for master program applicants. The degree must be ready prior to the registration day.

l Master's degree or equivalent for doctoral program applicants. The degree must be ready prior to the registration day.

l Demonstrated proficiency in Chinese for programs taught in Chinese:

n HSK band 5: 180; or

n Requirement waived only if you meet one of the following criteria:

u You attended a three-year middle/high school in China and graduated from that school.

u You attended a four-year undergraduate program in China and are a graduate of that program.

l Demonstrated proficiency in English for programs taught in English:

n IELTS: 6; or

n TOEFL: 575 PBT, 90 iBT; or

n Requirement waived only if you meet one of the following criteria:

u You are a native English speaker.

u You attended a four-year undergraduate program in the United States, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and are a graduate of that program.

Mar 31, 2018: Deadline for scholarship application

May 31, 2018: Deadline for self-supported application

Sep, 2018: Registration (Exact date TBD.)

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1: Complete the Online Application

Complete and submit an online application at Study@SJTU (http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/) by the application deadline.

Step 2: Pay the Application Fee

The application fee is RMB 800 or USD 120, non-refundable and non-transferable. Payment must be made using RMB or USD. You can choose online payment or bank transfer in the online application system.

DOCUMENTS TO PREPARE

n Degree certificates: Must be the scanned file of your original certificates. Students who have not graduated by the time of application are required to provide an official letter from your university stating the expected graduation date.

n Transcripts: Must be the scanned file of your original transcripts.

n Language proficiency certificate and score report.

n A scanned copy of your passport.

n Passport-size photo.

n Personal statement and study plan.

n Two recommendation letters from associate professors or scholars with higher academic titles. (Reference information such as the referees, phone number and email address must be included.)

l Note: If your documents are not in English or Chinese, please have them translated into either English or Chinese by an authorized translation agency. After this please upload both the translated and original documents onto our application system.

TUITION AND HOUSING FEES

l Tuition*:

n RMB 28,900/Year for Master programs (Approx. USD 4,370/ Year)

n RMB 45,500/Year for Doctoral programs (Approx. USD 6,890/Year)

l On-campus housing: RMB 50-160/Day (Approx. USD 8-25/Day)

*Tuition may differ for special programs offered by Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Antai College of Economics & Management, School of International & Public Affairs, Koguan Law School, and USC-SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry. In general, the support duration cannot be extended. All scholarship recipients are obliged to attend the annual comprehensive scholarship assessment during April and May of each year to confirm their qualification of the scholarship for the next year. Excellent graduate students can also get certain financial support by applying for proper TA or RA positions on campus.   • How to Apply

    • For Chinese Government Scholarship, applications must be made at both China Scholarship Council (CSC) (http://laihua.csc.edu.cn) and Study@SJTU (http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/). Applicants are also encouraged to apply to China Scholarship Council through the Chinese Embassies or relevant organizations in their home country between November and April (varies from country to country).

    • For Shanghai Government Scholarship (Type A2), applications must be made at both Study in Shanghai (http://www.study-shanghai.org) and Study@SJTU (http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/).

    • For Type B, C, or D, applications must be made through Study@SJTU (http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/).
