1. From 2016 fall admission, no paper materials are required to deliver. All documentaries should be scanned clearly and submitted on http://isc.sjtu.edu.cn.

2. All the documents should be in Chinese or English. If some original copy is not in either Chinese or English, it should be translated.

3. Applicants may be deemed to have committed a dishonest act if they have failed, fabricated, or plagiarized the documents, materials, or information submitted for their application, and the results of all entrance examination taken by the applicants in Shanghai Jiao Tong University would become invalid.

4. The letter of recommendation and each certificate may be verified by contacting the issuer or public institution.

5. If you could not provide a certificate to meet SJTU and SEIEE requirements stated in the application guidelines during application time, you may have the option to submit a certificate to demonstrate that you are expected to meet the qualification. You would be required to submit an additional certificate to show you indeed meet the requirement before enrollment. You will not be allowed to enter SEIEE if you could not provide such additional certificate, even if you get admission letter.

2. Scholarship Application

For Chinese Government Scholarship Applicants, please apply here

For Shanghai Government Scholarship Applicants, please apply here

Remember not missing the deadline for scholarship application.

Students who have other scholarship options besides CSC/SGS/SJTU scholarship could forget about this step.

3. Notarized Degree Certificate

Original master degree certificate in Chinese or English when apply for Doctor Degree.

Original bachelor degree certificate in Chinese or English when apply for Master Degree.

Students who have not yet graduated should provide an official letter stating the expected graduation date

4. Notarized Grade Transcript

Notarized English/Chinese transcript is needed. If it is not in either Chinese or English, it should be translated and notarized.

GPA or Percentage of grades would be reviewed during admission.

Ranking statement from home university could be very helpful. So it is highly recommended.

5. Language Proficiency Certificate

The language to study and research at SJTU is English or Chinese.

5.1 For English program applicants:

Students with TOEFL (minimum 90iBT or minimum 575 PBT) or IELTS (minimum BAND 6) would be received.

This requirement would be waived if

1）You are a native English speaker

2）You attend a four year undergraduate program in the United States, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and are a graduate of that program.

5.2 For Chinese program applicants

Students with HSK 5 (minimum 180) would be accepted.

This requirement would be waived if

1）You attended a 3 year middle/high school in China and graduated from that school

2）You attended a four year undergraduate program in China and are a graduate of that program

Note: Students with English Certificate from home university could apply. But scholarship possibility would be lower than those students with official language certificate like TOFEL/IELTS/HSK.

6. Two Recommendation Letters

Two letters of recommendation from associate professors (or higher academic titles) or scholars with equivalent titles are needed. Indication of referees’ phone number and email address are necessary.

7. Personal Statement and Research Proposal/Study Plan

State experience, research interests and study plan in one article so that the academic admission committee could know about applicants' academic quality.

No less than two A4 pages.

8. Passport and passport photo

The passport must be valid for your future stay in China.

9. Receipt of Non-refundable 800RMB applicant fee

Pay online according to application website instructions, or submit the remittance receipt by remittance.

It is non-refundable no matter what admission result is.

SJTU would not deal with your application before they receive your application fee.

10. Resume

It would be helpful for admission committee to evaluate your eligibility.

11. Conditional Acceptance Letter from Potential Supervisors

SEIEE admission requires supervisor acceptance compulsorily.

So it is better to contact supervisor before application and get conditional acceptance letter from SEIEE supervisors before application.

During application, there is one step to submit conditional acceptance letter.

12. Published paper or articles

Any publication in conference or journals would be counted. It is especially important for students applying for Ph.D. program.

13. GRE Certificate

It is different from language proficiency certificate.

Only for Ph.D. applicants who wants to apply for CSC scholarship by university.

Ph.D. Students who already get scholarship from CSC embassy or other association would not need GRE.

SEIEE scholarship review committee would use the GRE score for scholarship ranking.  Without GRE score would have negative effect.

14. Certificate of Bank Balance

Only for self-funded students. If students who are applying for scholarship failed to get scholarship, they would be required to show this certificate before registration
